Coca-Cola Amatil
Manufacturing Execution Systems
CCA Australia is one of the fastest growing producers and distributors of the international product Coca-Cola. With plants located throughout Australia, the company is now expanding its horizons to focus on Asia and the emerging Eastern European markets. Along with this trend, MacroView has been chosen in 1992 as the primary Plant Management and SCADA system for the group.
The Brisbane plant produces and markets the famous soft drinks to over 3 million consumers each day. The new Richlands plant will more than double the capacity of the Brisbane beverage operations to meet demands for its products until the year 2015. Listed below are the key system features and the benefits that arise from the implementations at both the Brisbane and Perth installations.
Benefits
The core benefits arise from better information management at every step in the business process. This includes:
- Direct communication to the PRMS production scheduling system which allows for the efficient use of live data to accurately align production with orders for both the syrup and bottling line.
- Immediate reconciliation between production and the finished goods requirements.
- PLC system monitoring ensures timely response to production changes and the automatic invocation of these.
- On-line quality procedures directly measure key process indicators and performs data logging for traceability and QA reporting.
- Historical collection of production and process data is used to reduce down-time, reduce cost of production, and improves quality and consistency of the final product.
System Features
The system provides a multi-level interface between operations, production, management and engineering. Features include:
- Separate data collection and plant wide TCP/IP LANs including X-terminal access from laboratory, management and engineering.
- 2 MacroView systems, each 5000 I/O which includes SCADA functions such as monitoring of the bottling lines, historical data collection, our recipe and batch management modules, and links to corporate systems and mainframe installations.
- An integrated MES starting at order entry and production scheduling through recipe and production management into finished goods and dispatch by the warehouse system - MacroView is used to link each of these business functions.
