Matrikon licences VRT's + Enterprise Suite
One of the world's leading industrial software developers, Matrikon, has entered into a licencing agreement with VRT for the use of its Citect + Enterprise Suite toolset. Matrikon was impressed with the breadth of functionality and potential productivity benefits this toolset offers. Matrikon is currently evaluating their applicability to the development and deployment of future Citect SCADA projects to be undertaken by them.
A novel feature of the licencing agreement is that it is based on Open Source licencing concepts, viz. the CPAL Licence. One benefit of this model is that any enhancements made by Matrikon will be freely available to VRT, and vice versa. VRT is now discussing the extension of this model to other interested Citect SIs with a view to developing a community of like minded developers/implementers who will all share in the joint contributions to this project toolset.
